My name is Debi D. I joined The Leading Edge gym about a year ago and was fortunate enough to be paired up with a trainer. He does a very thorough job in all aspects of training , especially in the way he pushes me until I think I can't take any more. He keeps pushing me until it BURNS!! I enjoy cardio and free weight training, because he makes me achieve the impossible. I also like the fact that he continues to guide me with my nutritional needs, and helps me with my eating habits. I am very proud to say that I have lost a total of 40 pounds and I've gone from a pant size of 18 to a 12!! I am truly grateful to my new friend for helping me overcome my lifelong battle with weight. I have tried numerous diets and plans but to no avail none of them ever really helped. I strongly believe that as long as The Leading Edge continues to hire expertly trained personal trainers, The Leading Edge will be in business here in Greenfield for a long time to come. Marit and I began working together last fall. I had never spent much time inside a gym. Although there were many unfamiliar people, exercises and machines, Marit would always distract me from my fear with her compassion, intelligence and professionalism. She has an endless reserve of solutions for every problem I have had during workouts. This led to a genuine foundation of trust. I can count on Marit to challenge me. I end up wanting to do more, and again I can count on Marit to caution me, thus avoiding further injuries. Marit has a keen eye and is very mindful in her work. I am amazed at the details she informs me of regarding posture, pace and position during our sessions.
I am like a bog dog. I am friendly, curious and at times rather loud. Marit is secure and grounded in who she is, what she does and how she feels. Marit has never skipped a beat no matter what we encounter. I still get a great work out, we get the job done and this is directly due to her unbiased approach and delightful sense of humor. Since Marit listens to what I say, no matter how I say it, we always come up with an individualized routine that keeps me on the path to success.

I'm 52 years old and have spent a good many hours behind a computer screen. I've never been very athletic; and so I've felt intimidated from trying various sports and activities. I have experienced some major changes these last 5 months since I started working out with Shelley. My energy level is much higher, my body is more toned and flexible. My posture is much better. I get compliments from my friends and family all the time. I've tried new things that I never thought I'd have the nerve to try including tennis and dance lessons. One of my girlfriends often says - Ellen has found her inner athlete at the age of 52! In the beginning, I was reluctant to do the cardio Shelley suggested in between training sessions. She really supported me in doing this, even offering to meet me at the gym just to do cardio. Eventually she convinced me this was an important component and now I feel like something is missing if I haven't at the very least done some briskwalking each day. She also provide helpful nutritional tips which I've been able to incorporate. I am very comfortable working out with Shelley because she is respectful and fun. I'm confident that she always keeps my safety as a top priority as she continues to challenge me. I know that I'm lucky to have Shelley as a personal trainer. Shelley always goes above and beyond, and I think she is awesome!

I never thought the day would come when I would need or want a trainer. That changed when I realized – accepted the fact that I wasn't getting the results I wanted on my own. Working with Melissa has helped me to change my physical appearance and has boosted my confidence enormously. I have learned about working out safely. Melissa has provided me with the motivation to stay in shape and a program that I am able to work with on my own, both comfortably and effectively, until the next time we meet.Melissa makes sure that I know EXACTLY how the exercise is to be performed, so I can do it right and that I get the maximum benefit from each rep. Melissa has customized my program to me. Melissa doesn't just stand there counting reps; she seems genuinely interested in me during our time together. My workouts are designed such that they have NOT aggravated any of my "old” injuries (lower back and shoulder), but in fact they helped reduce the symptoms of the past injuries. Melissa maintains high energy and motivational talk during the workout, so when I exercise on my own I can picture what she would say to me, and that keeps me going. I am not the kind of person that needs to be inspired to work out. But having someone knowledgeable, fun and who knows how to get me to get the most out of my workout time is what keeps me coming back.
And, when the going gets rough, Melissa knows how to get me through whatever we are working on, I may not get the last rep out, but it isn't for the lack of not trying. She makes me laugh, which keeps me committed to working out -- who knew that a killer exercise routine could not only get the job done, but also be FUN?

I had the highly beneficial opportunity to train with Shelley during the last trimester of my pregnancy. We started our work-out sessions at the gym and usually worked for about thirty minutes. Shelley guided me through balanced and thorough work-outs that gently yet firmly worked limbs and core muscles each time. I left each work-out feeling surprisingly invigorated.
As my belly grew larger and the Tucson weather grew hotter, Shelley moved our work-outs to the pool. The swimming work-outs were usually longer but slightly lower impact and extremely helpful. My aching muscles were stretched and soothed, my swelling ankles and feet were cooled and relieved of pressure. I recall not wanting these work-outs to end. Fortunately, when they did come to an end, I still had a sense of feeling more energetic and invigorated.
Shelley is very knowledgeable as a trainer and always seems to be striving to expand her knowledge even more. She cares about her clients, listens to specific needs, and communicates with clarity and kindness.

I met Marit after joining the Leading Edge to help me with weight loss and nutrition. I have had 10 sessions with her and find her to be fabulous! She is a perfect fit, no pun intended, for my needs… I needed a nutritionist to help me establish a program that would help to make changes in my diet and a fitness trainer who could help me with low impact exercises which would be sensitive to my bad lower back. She has been a gem in both areas! She has developed a personal program for me that addresses all of these needs. I have already lost 10 lbs. and expect to lose more weight in the coming months. I can highly recommend this dynamic and energetic young lady; you will be sore, but not disappointed!

I joined The Leading Edge in January. I was out of shape and overweight, due in part to a series of surgeries and a protracted recovery period. I met with Liz Budd and explained both my history and my goals. From her perceptive questions I knew that "she got me", and she developed a plan for me. I have continued to meet with Liz. She has been insightful, knowledgeable, and encouraging. My energy, strength, and flexibility have increased. I am amazed at how much better I feel.
