The Leading Edge Investment Plan: Plan on Your Fitness
The Leading Edge is offering a new way to pay for personal training based on an investment plan. The more you invest in your fitness the less you have to pay! You choose how many times you would like to train a month: 4, 8, or 12 times a month and for how many months 3, 6 or 12 months and the trainer will do the rest. We will also offer a percentage down plan. Prior to your first training session anywhere from 10-100 percent down on the package you chose can be paid and the remaining cost will be applied to your Monthly EFT.

Scott McAlarney
Scott is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer. He has been a Personal Trainer for nearly three years and has studied Kinesiology, Fitness and Wellness, and Athletic Training at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Salem State College. Scott swam on the Varsity Swim Team throughout high school in his hometown of Melrose, MA. Last year Scott was employed as a Swim Team Coach for both Youth and Masters Swim Teams at his local YMCA while attending Salem State College. Scott puts a great deal of emphasis on using controlled, smooth movement when executing most exercises, all with proper form to ensure balanced, safe, and effective training. Also very important in his routines are effective exercises to stabilize the core, increase posture, and prevent injury. Having worked with a wide array of clients, all with their own individual goals, injuries, and body types. Scott enjoys working with all abilities and can help them to achieve whatever goals they may have. |

Marit Mendelsohn - RD, LDN
Marit Mendelsohn graduated with a Bachelors in Human Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 07. In pursuit of achieving her Registered Dietitian status, she attended a 9 month intensive Dietetic Internship along with graduate classes at Russell Sage College in NY. She is currently finishing up her Master of Science degree, part time, and is a Registered Dietitian. In her internship and graduate classes, she became very familiar with many types of diseases. Dietary planning for all types of people, and weight loss is her main focus. She achieved her Personal Training certification through the Nation Counsel of Strength and Fitness, and has recently joined the Leading Edge personal training team. Marit is an avid runner, and has always been interested in, and participated in a variety of sports. She was a medium and long distance runner on the track team, and a floor gymnast all through high school. Through nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes, Marit has been very successful achieving client’s weight loss and strength goals, without depriving them from the things they love. Her clients learn how to maintain a lifestyle, not a diet, that will keep them happy, healthy and looking good!

Shelley Lawrence - Assistant Fitness Director
Shelley Lawrence holds certifications from the American Council on Exercise and the National Endurance Sports Trainers Association as a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Biomechanics Specialist and Certified Core Conditioning Specialist. Shelley also trains in Muay Thai , boxing, and as a triathlete. She has also competed in more than twenty road races. Her integrative approach to fitness balances strength, flexibility, and endurance. She has recently returned to Massachusetts after living in Tucson Arizona for much of the last 15 years.
Shelley believes it is possible for every person to find their unique inner athlete and that a key aspect of a personal trainer's role is to help guide each person toward their unique approach to fitness. Shelley takes a holistic approach to wellness and likes to stress the importance of developing good eating habits and practicing stress reduction techniques in addition to a balanced fitness regimen.
Area of greatest expertise:
Interval and intense strength training (such as super slow and pre-exhaustion sets), boxing, and strength training geared to individuals of all levels who are striving to lose fat and not getting results they are after!

Reading about food policy, sustainable agriculture practices, and whole-foods based nutrition, photography, lucid dreaming, spending time with family, and spending time with my daughter! |

Kayla Roberts
Kayla is a graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelors in Applied Exercise Science. During her time at Springfield she interned at the College of The Holy Cross as well as the University of Rhode Island in the Strength and Conditioning departments. While doing her internships she was able to work directly with the head Strength Coaches writing and implementing strength programs for athletes of various sports and ages. She has also been able to work with elderly and kids group fitness programs. Along with interning, Kayla was a member of the Track and Field team as well as the school's club Rugby team. After graduating, she received her Personal Training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine.
Throughout her life, Kayla has always been involved in and believed in fitness and good nutrition. Her philosophy includes the importance of a full-body workout that is enjoyable, efficient, and specifically tailored to each client's needs and goals. As a new member of The Leading Edge team, Kayla looks forward to helping her clients achieve a healthy, happy, new lifestyle and stay motivated! |
